Allege d'Arles is a type name for French, wooden, sailing, shipping, river and cabotage shipping. It is assumed that their structure and structure are quite similar to tartans (singular tartan). The largest units of this type were 25 to 30 meters long and had two masts. Their sails consisted of a Latin sail and the so-called flyer. Some still had a square sail at the top of the mast. The Allege d'Arles operated on the Rhone River, especially on the Arles-Toulon and Arles-Marseille routes, and were primarily used to transport wine, grain and other crops, wood as well as stone. In the mid-nineteenth century, about 120 Allege d'Arles boats sailed on these routes. In the second half of this century, they were superseded both by the development of steam ships and, in particular, by the development of the railroad.
